Finca Del Mar is situated in an incredibly rich area for outdoor recreation. From bodysurfing at the beach, to surf casting, windsurfing, hiking trails, playing horseshoes, gardening, or horseback riding – our community offers a wide-range of recreational activities to keep you fit and in tune with your surroundings.

Birdwatching

Birdwatching is spectacular along our shore, creeks, and mangroves. Hundreds of species of birds are represented here. Early morning offers great sightings of birds of prey such as hawks, including the rare black crab hawk, kites, caracaras in the pasture and forest, trogons, mot-mots, manakins, flycatchers, magpie jays, brightly-colored orioles and cardinals, loud groups of parakeets, anis, cuckoos, woodpeckers hammering in the forests and the coastal hammocks, and after dark, nighthawks and owls.

In the mornings, a variety of colorful hummingbirds will pass your patio as they diligently follow their route of flowers while feeding on nectar.
Preserving the unique habitats of our creeks and estuaries protects a colorful array of endangered species and migratory birds. Across the seasons our shore and wetlands plays host to pelicans, boat billed herons, roseate spoonbills, chachalacas, bitterns, ibis, kingfishers, ducks, and geese.

And we are well-known for the clouds of swallows that pass down the beach in the evening hours during the winter months.
